Many years ago I use to volunteer with a dog breeder from Elgin, Illinois at a private Exotic Animal Sanctuary in Wisconsin. We cleaned the large cat compounds and stocked them with road kill or donated raw meat. That was hard work but worth the effort to be there to watch the other exotic and farm animals up close. I even got urniated on by a male lion, through the chain link fence of course. the bears were amusing to watch and my favorite cat was a jaguar. The owners of the sanctuary had a cage built inside their old farm house that opened to the outside for a favorite leopard to be inside with them. It was a wonderful experience to be there many times as part of my vacations. I even remembered when a huge tiger needed surgery and we took it to a vet for surgery. It was unfortuante such a beautiful creature died on the operating table and we were all very sad for such a loss. I only wish I had the money to have him creamted at the time for a Petstone memorial. But at the time I was not creating artwork out of creamted ashes. That experience was just another reason I started Ashwork Design Concepts.

I've known a few good rats in my past, and one especially got my heart. Happy New Year to all people of the animal planet. I'm stocked with raw organic materials for my Terastone medium to sculpt bas-relief on stretched canvas. I'm a happy camper ready to create two unique pieces for our beloved cat "Dillion", El Gato Negro. One will be an 18x24 Vault for his keepsakes, and 11x14 frame for his Pride picture. My Winter trip to Mexico is almost here and a visit to friends in North Carolina, Texas and New Mexico before I return to my humble abode in April. Orders can be taken anytime, but custom artwork will not commence until I return home. Thanks for your support. Best Wishes, Roberto

Now Playing: Our Cat Dillion

On November 2nd. 2007 we had a vet come to our home and euthanize Dillion. He was 16 years old and had a wonderful life with us up to his last day. As he purred with us and went to sit on the vets lap to be sedated before his final exit to Rainbow Bridge. He came down with a liver disease the previous week and we did everything we could medically to heal him, but he only got worse. With love and compassion we decided to end his suffering at home. Rest in peace Dillion you will always be in our heart. We love and miss you dearly. Daniel & Greg

All is my own dream

Today is Monday Auguat 22, 2006 and I'm in Toronto, Ontario. It has been a dream being here. The lakes are beautiful and outside the city their are horses,deer,goats and bears. On Gabriola Island off Victoria Island I saw seals and sea lions. the Orcas are common sights and salmon are everywhere. The Inuk tribe saw all theres animals as good medicine for their community. The Hida tribe are great sculpters and carvers of the totum pole. The Raven and Eagle are sacred birds to them anlong with mystical beings. My medicine animal is the frog and I jump from place to place. It is in my nature to travel and discover new rocks and bodies of water.
