Gary and Mary West Senior Wellness Center Activities:

The center provides seniors meaningful participation in a variety of classes, workshops, activity events, social events and special events.  They include:

Bud and Esther’s Cyber Café: The Cyber Café has 14 computers.  Tutors are available by appointment.  Café hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., Friday and Saturday 8:00a.m. -12:20 p.m.  Closed Sunday.

Cooking Class: Once a month come and see what’s cooking.  Learn to prepare delicious meals in this hands-on cooking class in the dining room.

Feeling Fit Club: This popular activity meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. in the LI room.

PAWS:  Free food for dogs and cats of GMW members every 3rd Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

Stepping For Fitness!  Our walking group meets Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in the MBSR.

Travel Class:  Explore countries, continents and cultures with videos and background presentations.  Class meets every Thursday at 11:40 a.m. in the LI room.  Free Coffee.

White Elephant Sale:  Thursday, December 6 in the LI.

Homeless Outreach Holiday Event:  Saturday, December 22, 9:00 a.m.


Other Local Activities:

Senior Craft Sale.  Saturday and Sunday November 17&18, 2018 10:a.m.-3:30 p.m. Balboa Park, Casa Del Prado Patios A, B, and Room 101 (Located off Park Blvd., on Village Place. Patios A, B, and Room 101.

The Balboa Park Senior Lounge (1650 El Prado, room 105) is located between the Natural History Museum and the Lily Pond.  Open Tuesday-Friday 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Saturday 9:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m. For more information about the lounge call 619-384-4619.

 Balboa Park Walk: 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursdays of the month.  Gather at the Senior Lounge.  The walk starts at 10:15 a.m. sharp.

Explore Museums:  Every Tuesday of the month, visit a Balboa Park Museum free if you are a city or county resident (with ID).

Organ Concert:  The San Diego Organ Society presents a concert every Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park.

Food Assistance:  The Jewish Family Services Hand-Up Youth Food Pantry distributes free food to the public once a week at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 2728 Sixth Ave. (the corner of Sixth Avenue and Olive Street), 1-3 p.m. Thursdays.
